Acacia galpinii, Monkey Thorn (e), Apiesdoring (a), Mokgapa (s). This fairly fast growing, hardy, deciduous thorn tree is one of the largest of the Acacias. The fine, feathery leaves fold up at night. It has large, black, hooked thorns that make it an ideal addition to a security hedge. It makes a perfect specimen plant and is majestic used in an avenue. Like most Acacias it will attract a myriad of wildlife to the garden and is a butterfly host plant. Size 10 to 25m. Sowing : Sow seeds in summer. Soak in water for 12 hours before planting. Locality : Potgietersrus. Date of harvest : August 2016.
