Description
Adansonia perrieri (seeds per 5 seeds) (Malvaceae) Perrier’s Baobab. Medium to large tree up to 30 m tall, major branches horizontal or ascending at about 45°, bark pale grey and rough. Leaves 5 – 11 foliolate, ussually over 9 on reproductive shoots. Flowers emerging at or just before leaf emergence, with petals pale yellow, becoming darker with age. Fruits ussually oblong, pericarp brown. Sowing : Seed should be sown in spring or during summer, in a well-drained seedling mix, and need only be covered lightly with the sowing mix, clean coarse sand or milled bark. The trays should be kept moist in a warm but shaded position. Locality: Ex Hort. Harvest: January 2022
