Description
Aeonium nobile (Crassulaceae) It is a spectacular species native of La Palma. It makes amongst the largest, broadly dome shaped inflorescence within the genus. The flower stalk might consist of up to 50.000 and sometimes even more flowers. The whole inflorescence might reach up to 50cm in diameter ! The more it is the only species which has pure red-orange flowers, which are almost purple reddish in some specimens. The plants are short-stemmed and have very succulent, huge and slightly sticky leaves, which will turn slightly orange under open sun. The rosettes reach up to 50 cm (!) in diameter. This species hardly off-branches and is best grown from seeds. The seedlings will gain flowering-size within 5-6 years and less. Date of harvest : September 2010. Locality : Ex Hort.
