Aloe marlothii – Mountain Aloe (e), Bergaalwyn (a), inHlaba (z), Mogopa (Tsw), Kgoha (sotho) Very hardy, large, upright, single-stemmed Aloe with a head of large, fleshy, very thorny leaves. Horizontally branched spikes of tubular orange or red flowers are borne from May to Aug. Excellent accent plant. It will attract many species of birds and butterflies to the garden. Plant in well-drained soil. This is the typical highveld aloe seen on rocky ridges. Used medicinally. Size 2 to 5m. S.A. No. 29.5. Locality : Zululand. Date of harvest : Aug 2008
