Description

Ammocharis coranica. (20 seeds) (Amaryllidaceae) Ground Lily. It grows in a sandy or even clay-like soil with some water and lots of sun. The leaves tend to lay on the ground, for 30 centimeters, the bulb can grow to 30 centimeters in diameter. The flowers are pink turning darker and darker. When in flower they form red pockets of colour in the veld. The flowers open from the outside inwards, about an hour before sunset. Sowing : A coarse medium, like river sand is ideal and seedlings must be kept moist. Do not cover the seeds, simply press them halfway into the medium. Locality: Reddersburg. Harvest : February 2021
