Description
Aristolochia sempervirens (Aristolochiaceae). Native to Algeria, Sicily, Greece, Albania, Lebanon, Cyprus, Crete and Turkey in bushy and shady places. Evergreen shrubby climber with twining, wiry stems to 5m long but usually much less. Leaves 2-10cm long by 1.5-5cm wide, triangular-ovate or heart-shaped, dark shining green. Flower tube 2-5cm long, curved and funnel shaped, yellowish brown with purple stripes, yellow at the throat, spring to summer. Sowing : Sow seeds in summer. Locality : Ex Hort. Harvest : August 2014
