Description

Asparagus laricinus (Asparagaceae). Cluster-leaf asparagus (e). Scrambling shrub or climber up to 2.5 m. Stems whitish with short hard spines; fine leaves come in clusters of up to 60; flowers white, on the outside of leaf clusters; fruits red.  Sowing : Sow seeds in summer. Plant the seeds 5mm deep in a potting mix. Soak the seeds in water overnight before planting. These seeds germinate best in soils around 60°F – 85°F. Germination will take about 21 days. Harvest : August 2008. Locality : Bloemfontein.
