Description
Asparagus virgatus (Asparagaceae) Broom Asparagus (e). Very hardy, evergreen, erect, stiff shrublet with slender stems and very fine, dark green leaves. It bears tiny white flowers in summer followed by red berries that look as if they are floating in mid-air. The foliage is useful for flower arrangements. This is a drought resistant attractive plant that grows in shade or sun and requires very little attention. It is used for medicinal and magical purposes, and is also used as a protective charm.
