Description
Cephalanthus occidentalis (Rubiaceae). Buttonbush is a North American native. This deciduous shrub can reach 3.7 m in height, with many dense branches. It is found in wet areas such as lake-shores. Buttonbush flowers look so unusual at every stage of development, and are visible during so much of the summer, that this alone is usually enough to identify the plant. Sowing : Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 20-25C.? Cover with peat or sand. Locality : Ex Hort.
