Description
Chionanthus virginicus (Oleaceae) This tree is suitable as a specimen, for group plantation, near ponds or streams, and in shrub borders. The male flowers of this dioecious tree are more vibrant than the female flowers. Fruits are a good source of food for birds. Foliage turns yellow in the Fall. Prefers sunny to partly shady, moist, well-drained, ordinary garden soil. Sowing : Sow seeds in summer. Locality : Ex Hort. Date of harvest : July 2013
