Description
Gunnera tinctoria (Gunneraceae). The Chilean rhubarb, is a plant species native to southern Chile and neighbour zones in Argentina. It? is a large, clump-forming, herbaceous plant that grows up to 2m in height. It has stout horizontal rhizomes, and massive umbrella-sized leaves on sturdy petioles. The leaves and their stems are covered in rubbery prickles. Tiny green flowers occur in early summer on conical spikes. Sowing :? Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 20-25C.? Cover with peat or sand. Locality : Ex Hort. Date of harvest : November 2013
