Description

Haemanthus humilis ssp. humilis (Amaryllidaceae) Very hardy, deciduous, bulbous plant with broad leaves. Short stems with a stiff brush-like head of pink flowers are produced. Fleshy, oval, white to orange fruit are attractive and sought after by birds. Plant in semi-shade. Looks attractive growing in between rocks. Used in traditional medicine. Size 30cm. Sowing : Place seeds on seedling mix and press down untill halfway burried. Do not cover. Sow as fresh as possible. Date of harvest : March 2012. Locality : Magaliesberg.
