Description
Khaya ivorensis (Meliaceae). African Mahogany or Lagos Mahogany. It is a tall forest tree and it grows to be about 40-50 m high. It is native to certain parts of Africa including? Angola, Cameroon, C?te d’Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, and Nigeria. This tree is planted for timber uses as it has a very hard wood and is relativly fast growing. Wolesale price per kg is also available. Sowing : When sown in seedbeds, the seeds germinate after 11-21 days. Germination is epigeal; the young seedlings grow very slowly and must be kept shaded at the beginning. Stock can be planted to the field when 60-90 cm high. Locality : Ghana.
