Description
Leucosidea serica (Rosaceae) Ouhout (a), umTshitshi (z), Mosino (s) Decorative, very hardy, evergreen, fast growing, low branching small, tree with aromatic leaves that have silvery hairs. The yellowish-green flowers that are borne from Aug. to Dec. are sticky with nectar and held in candle-like spikes. It has attractive, peeling bark and stems when pruned clean. Must have regular watering or be planted in damp areas to keep it looking good. Ideal screening plant for sun or semi-shade. It is said that they are indicators of good trout waters.
