Description

Massonia mimetica (price per 10 seeds). Hyacinthaceae. The cinnamon-coloured leaves with pustules are typical for the species in habitat, however the colour often disappears in cultivation, probably due to lack of light. Flowers are quite colourful with cream-white to pale yellow filaments with a reddish base and pale orange or rarely purplish-bluish anthers. Sowing : Sow seeds in autumn in a well-draining medium. Spread seeds thinly to prevent damping-off. Cover with a thin layer of river sand. Keep moist. Seed will germinate in about 2 weeks after sowing. Locality: Platbakkies. Harvest: Aug 2023
