Description
Rhododendron degronianum ssp yakushimanum (Ericaceae). It is an evergreen, low compact shrub with dense growth that is very hardy and well suited for sunny situations. The plants hibernate their flower buds at the tip of the annual shoots; the buds contain several primordia arranged in umbels. The funnel- to bell-shaped flowers develop from pink buds – they turn lighter as they open, being almost pure white by the time they are in full bloom. Sowing : Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 20-25C.? Cover with peat or sand. Locality : Ex Hort.
