Description
Sterculia alata (Sterculiaceae). This large, dry deciduous tree to 30 m or more tall with a buttressed trunk is found as an emergent species in disturbed, evergreen forests from India to Burma and Malaysia. The large, woody fruits can reach 12 cm in diameter and open along one side to release up to 40 edible seeds. Sowing : Sow seeds in summer. Locality : Ex Hort. Date of harvest : July 2014.
