Description
Tylecodon paniculatus (Crassulaceae). Botterboom (a). Fairly hardy, deciduous succulent. The thick stem and branches are covered in papery, flaking bark. The leaves are succulent. Dull red, pendulous, tubular flowers open in succession on branched flower stalks. Grow in full sun in strong, direct sunlight. This is a winter rainfall area plant and should be watered sparingly in winter and kept completely dry in summer and should therefore rather be grown in containers. Size up to 1m. Sowing: sow seeds in autumn. Take care not to cover too much because the seeds are very small. Locality: Clanwilliam. Harvest: August 2023
