A new, rare species described in 2001 from the Istmo de Tehuantepec in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. It grows into a small, much branched, shrubby tree with many dense crowns of narrow, lax, green leaves and a large, bulbous base.
Sowing instructions: Seed should be sown in spring or during summer, in a well-drained seedling mix, and need only be covered lightly with the sowing mix, clean coarse sand or milled bark. The trays should be kept moist in a warm but shaded position.
