Brunsvigia pulchra (live bulb)
Common name: Torch Candelabra
The very apt specific epithet pulchra (meaning beautiful) describes the deep rose-pink flowers, and certainly the color contrast created by the pink flowers, the cream-colored ripe anthers and the deep maroon unripe anthers, is very eve-catching. The flowers of all other brunsvigia’s open fully once the flower stalks have radiated outwards to form the more or less spherical flower head, but those of B. pulchra are most unusual in that they all face straight upwards during the flowering period.
