Cochemiea setispina (Cactaceae) It is distinguished by having only 1-4 central spines, of which the upper one straight, lower one longest and hooked, 2-5 cm long. The flowers are very showy, long, red, narrowly tubular with bilateral symmetry and fit for hummingbird pollination. Sowing : Seed should be sown in spring or during summer, in a well-drained seedling mix, and need only be covered lightly with the sowing mix, clean coarse sand or milled bark to stop it from blowing away.
