Hardy, huge, deciduous tree which can grow to tremendous old age. The silvery-green leaves are unusually small for a Combretum. The small, white, puffball flowers, borne from Sept. to March, are very fragrant and attract a myriad of insects and birds. The pale grey bark is cracked and fissured into squares and oblongs. Plant in sun or semi-shade in well-drained soil. It grows reasonably fast in cultivation and has non-aggressive roots. The wood is exceptionally hard and heavy and has many traditional and farming uses. Size up to 15m. S.A. No. 539.
