Shrub or tree, up to 9 m tall, spiny; bark usually peeling in papery flakes; branchlets glabrous or pubescent, usually spine-tipped but spines sometimes sparse. Leaves 3-foliolate or sometimes 5–7-foliolate on long-shoots.

Sowing instructions: The best germination is at temperatures from 35°C and higher. The humidity has to have a range of 50 -80%. If it´s too high the seeds might rot and get infected by fungus.
