Deciduous dwarf tree, with a very swollen stem. BARK smooth, yellowish-orange; peeling in cream-coloured, thin, papery strips. LEAVES succulent, trifoliolate, alternate; petiole up to 20 mm long, thick, succulent; leaflets ovate to oblong, up to 270 x 110 mm; bright green to bluish green, often with red margin; margin toothed, apex pointed, base tapering. FLOWERS small, yellowish-green. FRUIT in clusters of red, grape-like berries. Flowers and fruit are conspicuous.
Sowing instructions: Sow seeds in summer in a well drained medium. Be patient with the germination as some might germinate quick while others may take up to a year to germinate.
