Diospyros mespiliformis (Ebenaceae) African ebony, jackal-berry ( Eng. ); jakkalsbessie (Afr.); Musuma (Tshivenda); Mgula (Tsonga). It is a very large tall tree that can reach a height of up to 25m. It has a dense evergreen canopy. The bark is black to grey, with a rough texture. Flowers are cream-colored and bell-shaped.
