Native to Socotra. It is an evergreen tree with a dense crown growing about 9 meters tall. The tree normally branches freely to form a very distinctive umbrella shape. The tree is particularly valued for the resin obtained from the trunk, which is harvested from the wild and has various uses in medicine, making varnishes, as a cosmetic etc.
Sowing instructions: Seed should be sown in spring or during summer, in a well-drained seedling mix, and need only be covered lightly with the sowing mix, clean coarse sand or milled bark. The trays should be kept moist in a warm but shaded position.
