Drimiopsis dolomiticus
Family: Hyacinthaceae
It is a fascinating and relatively uncommon bulbous plant native to specific regions of South Africa, primarily in dolomitic rocky outcrops. It’s known for its striking ornamental foliage rather than its flowers, which are small and often inconspicuous. The most distinguishing feature is its large, succulent like leaves that are typically a deep grey/green color with contrasting dark purple or maroon blotches, giving them a mottled appearance. These leaves are held upright on fleshy, mottled stems.
Sowing instructions: Sow seeds in summer in a well drained medium.
