Out of stock

Elegia nuda. (Naked Deckreed) It grows in a clump and is between 200 mm and 1 m tall. Plants have a rhizome (a modified stem that grows horizontally underground). Roots grow from the rhizome down into the soil and the green stems (culms) shoot upwards from the rhizome. The culms are unbranched. Sowing : Before sowing, the seed should be treated with smoke or soaked in a smoke-water solution. The seed should be sown during early autumn, when the nights are cool, between 10°C and 15°C, and the days are still warm, between 20°C and 30°C. After about three weeks the seed germinates and after another six to nine weeks can be pricked out. Locality: Ex Hort. Harvest: November 2021
