Eucomis bicolor BULB (Variegated Pineapple Lily) This very hardy, deciduous, bulbous plant has a rosette of attractive, broad, strap-like leaves with wavy margins. The base of the leaves is often purple spotted. The spikes of densely packed, drooping, mauve-edged flowers with their tuft of green bracts on the top resemble a pineapple. It flowers in late summer and makes an unusual garden plant for full sun or light shade areas. Used in traditional medicine. Flowering stem up to 40cm. These are mature flowering size bulbs and about 7 – 10cm in diametre.
