Very hardy, deciduous, bulbous plant with broad, mostly hairy, leaves. Short stems with a stiff brush-like head of pink flowers are produced with the leaves in early to mid summer. Fleshy, oval, white to orange fruit are attractive and sought after by birds. Plant in semi-shade. Looks attractive growing in between rocks. Used in traditional medicine.
