Microloma saggitatum (Apocynaceae) Slender climber up to 1m or more; sap clear. Leaves opposite, oblong, narrow, 7-35mm long, with margins turned downwards; flowers cylindrical, fine-haired, tapering, 5-11mm long, pink to red with pointed petals; flowers clustered together in groups of three to nine; forked fruits give this plant its common name Bokhorinkies. Sowing: It is easily propagated from ripe seeds, sown in a normal nursery tray, using a well-drained seed-sowing compost and silica sand mixture (silica sand improves drainage) kept moist and at a temperature of approximately 22ºC. The seeds need some degree of humidity for successful germination. One can generally expect seeds to germinate within 3–4 weeks (one month). Locality: Swellendam. Harvest: November 2023
