Pachypodium meridionale (price per 5 seeds)(Apocynaceae) This is a subspecies of rutenbergianum shortly called just meridionale. It develops a smooth, silvery, brown trunk. Branching at about 6cm, Pachypodium meridionale can become a 15m tree in its native habitat. The top of the trunk is capped off in glossy, blue green leaves. Beautiful, fragrant, pink flowers grow out of the trunk. Sowing : It is easily propagated from ripe seeds, sown in a normal nursery tray, using a well-drained seed-sowing compost and silica sand mixture (silica sand improves drainage) kept moist and at a temperature of approximately 22C. The seeds need some degree of humidity for successful germination. One can generally expect seeds to germinate within 3-4 weeks (one month). Locality: Ex Hort. Harvest: July 2019
