They make a good caudex and 3/4 of the stem is normally underground. The stems are deciduous, and generally die in winter when the plant is dormant. Give no water in winter when the plant is dormant. Rots quite easily. They produce a lovely dark pink flower.
Sowing instructions: Sow seeds in summer in a well drained medium.
