Scadoxus multiflorus subsp. katharinae (live bulb)
Family: Amaryllidaceae
Common names: Blood Flower (e), Bloedblom (a) idunjana (z)
Hardy, deciduous, bulbous plant with large blade-shaped wavy margined leaves. It bears magnificent, large heads of pinkish-red flowers in late summer. They are followed by very decorative, red berries that are relished by birds. Needs semi-shade and should not be split and moved too often as this affects flowering. An excellent garden and container plant. Plant in well-drained soil. Size 30 to 40cm.
Sowing instructions: Sow seeds in a mixture of compost and fine bark chips by pressing the seeds into the medium so that they are level with the medium. Keep moist.
