Scirpus holoschoenus (Cyperaceae). A member of the sedge family. A waterside species with rhizomes in the root zone. Good choice for inhibiting soil erosion from river banks. The plant has stems reaching up to 1.5m, with brown spikelets 2.5 – 4mm. It is native UK, found in damp sandy places near to the sea. Sowing : Sow in summer. Locality: Ex Hort. Harvest: November 2020
