Silene bellidoides (Caryophyllaceae) Very hardy, evergreen perennial herb widespread in southern Africa. Tall, erect sticky stems and rosettes of leaves at the base. The white flowers shine like neon lights at night and attract moths to pollinate them. They are also scented in the evening. Sowing: Mix 50 % sand or silica with 50 % seedling mixture, which allows for good drainage. Mix the seeds with soil before sowing or sow them first and cover with a very fine soil. The container should provide good water drainage and be placed under moderate mist. Locality: Stellenbosch. Harvest: July 2023
