It is a straggling, grey-to-rust-felted, sparsely branched shrublet that grows up to 60cm with lanceolate leaves that are spreading and rusty on upper margins. The flower heads are discoid, solitary reddish or straw-colored.
Sowing instructions: Asteraceae seeds often germinate better in response to smoke treatment. Only mature, plump and fully formed seeds should be used. Use smoke primer during sowing. Sow seeds in a sandy, well drained soil. Sow seeds in autumn.
